Summary: Star stores everything locally on your device. We don't collect, transmit, or have access to any of your data.
What We Collect
Nothing. Star does not collect any personal information, usage data, or analytics.
How Star Works
When you save an item to your wishlist, Star stores the following information locally on your device:
- The page URL
- Product title (extracted from the page)
- Product price (if available)
- Product image (stored as base64 for offline access)
- Any notes you add
- The date you saved the item
This data is stored using Chrome's local storage API and never leaves your browser.
Data Storage
All wishlist data is stored locally using chrome.storage.local. This means:
- Your data stays on your computer
- We cannot see or access your wishlist
- No account or sign-up is required
- Your data is not synced to any cloud service
- Uninstalling the extension will remove all stored data
Permissions Explained
Star requests the following permissions:
- storage - To save your wishlist items locally
- activeTab - To extract product information from the current page when you save it
- contextMenus - To add a "Open Wishlist" option to the right-click menu
- tabs - To show different icons based on whether the current page is saved
- scripting - To inject the save functionality on pages where content scripts aren't pre-loaded
Host Permissions
Star has access to all websites so it can extract product information from any page you choose to save. This access is only used when you explicitly save a page—we do not run any background scripts or collect data from pages you visit.
Third-Party Services
Star does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. There are no external network requests except when loading product images from the websites you saved items from.
Data Sharing
We do not share any data because we do not have access to any data. Your wishlist exists only on your device.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this policy, we'll change the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be communicated through the extension's update notes.
